๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซ Todayโ€™s did you know?

What is a no-kill shelter? There is no regulatory agency that defines or certifies a shelter for this title. The general consensus definition is that the shelter has a 90% rate of live releases. How this is achieved is determined by each shelter. In simple terms 9 out of 10 animals that enter the shelter leave the shelter alive. The lack of regulation and unified policies can lead to healthy animals being euthanized.

Shelter best practices that increase the live release rates of animals include many components:
*Community engagement and participation is key. Ordinances and laws are clearly defined and enforce in the community.
*Low cost spay and neuter and medical service programs that are readily available are essential to curbing unwanted populations.
*Robust volunteer programs within the shelters are critical. Volunteer fosters and daily care providers are valuable in assuring that all animals recieve the proper socialization and human interaction they require. *Shelter enhancement programs and trained staff that employ them can minimize stress and aid animals to adapt in this stressful environment .*Force Free trainers are vital not only for assisting shelter animals to achieve appropriate behaviors but to assure they stay in a home once they are adopted.
*Adoption campaigns that actively promote adoption and retention of shelter animals.
*Partnerships with rescue groups at the local, national and international level are needed to relieve the shelter of injured, neonatal, geriatric intakes which may need more time to be adopted.
*Cat TNR programs greatly reduce the populations
* In shelter neonatal nurseries where volunteers can bottle feed and care while fosters are secured. Isolation areas like these can keep these most vulnerable intakes safe.

Perhaps the single most important issue fueling the no kill movement is shelter administration transparency.
Shelters need to reflect what is truly happening in the community . Shelter decisions must be data driven if they are to be impactful. Ultimately the responsibility lies in the community! Communities must work collaboratively with shelters to achieve true No kill status.

My happily ever after โค๏ธ

Iโ€™m thankful because my siblings and I received a fair chance. We were blessed to be rescued; the beginning of our life was heartbreaking

I found the MOST amazing home ๐Ÿ˜ I am loved and spoiled. I am a very handsome redland survivor ๐ŸŽ‰

Please give an abandoned dog a chance, we are misunderstood most of the time, but remember that we didnโ€™t choose to be discarded and unhealthy. We didnโ€™t betray anyone; society keeps letting us down. Please help unwanted dogs like us, you will be rewarded with lots of doggie kisses and unconditional love

Iโ€™m very social these days ๐Ÿ˜ you can check the link below for updates and very cute pics of ME

These lovely pups are currently in boarding, MILA for example has been under our care since 9/16/2017 ๐Ÿ˜ข some of them have behavioral issues and without a committed foster, training cannot be done to help them succeed
Some of these pups are fearful, terrified of humans ๐Ÿ’” because of their past experiences ๐Ÿ˜ญ but they all deserve a fair chance. We do not want to see them in boarding, we would love to see them in loving and caring homes, BUT without your assistance this cannot be done.

At this time weโ€™re asking for donations ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป keeping them in boarding is expensive, but we are a NO KILL organization. When we picked them up we made a promise to them and we will make sure that each one of them receives their happily ever after.

Can you sponsor one dog??
$15/ per day
$105/ per week

If youโ€™re able to foster PLEASE reach out, these dogs desperately need a HOME ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
