Cane

This is CANE. He was found, newly dumped at the Rockpit, no chip, attempts to find owner turned up empty. He was lost, confused, and desperate to come with us. He was healthy and has only required basic vetting. But he is up to date on shots, neutered, and microchipped. He is ready for his own home. He’s awesome with people. He would need to be an only pet, but will give you enough love for five dogs. He would be a loyal companion and is strong and needs the right person to handle him. His beautiful brindle coat is unique and his head tilt is to die for!

Pheonix

This beautiful boy has been through it ALL! Dumped with leg injury, shattered and infected to the point that he needed a complete amputation including the entire shoulder blade.  He subsequently had a second surgery to correct the stapling that was done during the first surgery.  He has had a compromised immune system, so has had pneumonia, bronchitis,  and has even had further trouble healing at the incision site.  Meds, cones, staples, doctors, you name it! This guy had suffered through it. With all of this, this dog is the SWEETEST, most loving creature.  While at first he didn’t trust and didn’t readily accept human touch, now if you stop petting him he puts his head under your hand.  He leans on you and looks up at you with the most loving gaze. He also does well with his new normal of having only three legs, and would make an excellent light jogging partner.  Seems to love to jaunt.  Gets going into a smooth rhythm and enjoys it very much. We have not tested him with cats or dogs yet since we haven’t wanted to subject him to any further stress, but we would of course be willing to do meet and greets. Reach out to us if you have a spot for this love bug in your house. Email me and I’ll send you our adoption application.  Or if you are a 501(c)3, give this guy a chance.

Luna

A few years ago, during one of our feeding routes, we came across a very sweet, kind, smart and friendly girl named Luna. She was living in a gated industrial rockpit in rural Miami. We didn’t know much of her history before we met her, we assume she was abandoned and stumbled across some nice workers at the rockpit who fell in love with her, and kept her safe. For about 3 years, we would feed her, and check on her to make sure she had some human contact when no one else was around. Some of our volunteers became very close with Luna and Luna loved to see them when they arrived. However, over time, she declined as she was not being properly cared for. Her breathing became labored and she moved much more slowly, sometimes not even getting up to eat, we would feed her by hand. We knew she didn’t have a lot of time, she needed to see a vet. One of the workers approached us, and said the lot was being sold, and he would no longer be there to watch over Luna. This meant we had to move quick, Luna was tired, and just needed a place to rest her body. Luckily our prayers were answered, we found a foster home, and Luna was picked up late one night and brought to the vet, and it was confirmed she was heart worm positive. Thanks to our wonderful and giving donors, Luna was able to receive immediate treatment for heartworm. Luna was brave and tough as we all know heart worm treatment isn’t easy for any dog. Luna is doing so much better now, she has a pep in her step, she is alert, engaging, and very hungry when its meal time. Although Luna is 83lbs, her gentle giant size is deceiving as she is light on her feet, and does not invade your space. Its now time for her to find her a permanent home, a place that she can be loved, cared for, and be herself which is a quiet, calm and friendly girl who is eager to please. She walks perfect on a leash or harness, she is completely house trained, not even an accident, she stands by the door when its time to relieve herself. She likes other dogs, cats, and children, and will give you her paw whether you ask for it or not. She follows commands, and will sit for a treat and take it gently from your hand. Luna also enjoys a fluffy stuffed animal to play with, and she loves a comfortable bed. Luna would be a perfect addition to any home, would you consider adopting this sweet soul in your home? Once you meet Luna, you will fall in love!
